Update 29th April 2007

Congratulations to all our members on the recent Powerboat Level 2 course -  You've earned it.

Congratulations also to Deryck and Derek on gaining their Powerboat Level 2 instructors Qualification

Badger; Broughty Ferry Harbour, Powerboat 2 assesment - Donald grills Greg while the others get a temporary respite.  Jim however, has other things on his mind - but what exactly?

No, not the last admiral to leave the slipway - this is a Bearded Seal photographed on the slip at David Anderson Marine Boatyard, Newport.

It's supposed to be in Arctic waters, far from the Tay, it's very unusual to see one so far South and we can only hope it survives. A bearded seal was recorded in Japan, thriving in the coastal stretches of a river for some years so it is possible.

More Bearded Seal pictures

We think "it's" a she. Not only because she has a sweet face - the males head is coloured closer to tan/brown

Peter and Lucy's new boat "Pricylla" lets rip and streaks past Marigot. This makes us jealous.

Dave malingers while supposedly cleaning muck off Marigot's paintwork, after the new stainless rail extensions were fixed into place.

None of us fancied the dodgy climb down onto Terminator to bale her out. so Susan did it.

Here they are - the boatyard swans. 6 eggs now -she was turning  them over when this was taken. The dreadful threats to peck our legs have become pretty half hearted as they both get used to us walking past.

That said, one of them attacked Badger today as she came alongside.

"Swan bites Boat"?

Possibly not the brightest of critters but in spite of their laid back attitude to humanity, they did all right last year with six cygnets from a nest on the other side of the slipway where the mobile crane parks for the night

Nature sublime.

The first passenger carrying trip of the year after the refits. Badger leaves Broughty Harbour first

Marigot's next to leave.

Badger and Marigot later, during unit training.

Badger comes alongside during PB2 training. Tom on her deck.

It's just another day on the Tay. Callum points out a hazard, David sees his point,  Robin enjoys his sandwich (we think) Peter steers, Mark instructs and Bob stays perfectly still, having just noticed the camera.

Update 22nd April 2007

Badger looks good after her recent refit

Badger departs to circle round and come alongside again.

Both vessels under way.

Tom brings Piglet onto her trailer during recovery practise. Jim's in waders again.

A nice clean recovery, supervised by Deryck. Jim's in the waders.

Sunworshipper Dave slaps some more Factor 3000 onto his napper. Callum supervises ........Hey..."Because You're Worth It" .

Piglet comes alongside while Marigot is underway. Ian at the wheel,  Deryck supervises.

Dave about to make contact.

Terminator comes round in attack mode.

Closing.

Coming alongside.

Last practise before returning to the boatyard.
