Badgers' new lease of life has only been made possible through the generosity of public bodies and grant-making trusts, principally H. M. Customs and Excise and The Robertson Trust. Substantial contributions were also received from The Mathew Trust , The Tay Charitable Trust, The Alexander Moncur Trust and the St. Katharine's Fund, whilst our dedicated volunteers, some of whom are themselves trainees under the Taymara Project gave countless hours of their spare time towards the completion of this project. Not least, we appreciate the expertise and attention to detail, given to the installation of her engines by Davy Anderson and Cadge at David Anderson Marine, Newport on Tay, Fife.

Ray cleaned out the bilges once the engines had gone.

Then they got painted.

Jim.. er...does something down there. Get a haircut.

Ian sands down the filled sections on the hull and lightly sands the entire surface. Then grins.

Ken starts priming the filled patches....

....while Bob helps.

Poor Bob. It wasn't the white spirit, it was the foie gras.

Callum spent all Sunday drilling a hole in the squirrelside rudder. We're not sure why. Now he takes cover behind the stern and checks for snipers.

Some wear and corrosion is seen on the shaft, inside the stern gland. (Unknown to us, the water feed to the bearing had been snipped off and hidden by some marine cowboys prior to our involvement with the vessel) Thanks guys.

The glands were re-packed and should be good for a few more years before inevitable replacement of the prop shafts becomes neccessary.

The cutlass bearing was knackered too and removing it gave Davy and kaj a miserable few hours playing a musical saw with hardly any travel. Anyone who's ever had to use a hacksaw in this way will know how utterly frustrating it is. They sang hymns to keep their spirits up........"By cool Salome's shady rills", and others

Still, fitting a new one is much more fun. Now our cheery boatswain presses in the new bearing.

Jim discovers that Badger's a lot bigger out of the water. That's a mean bow she's got.

2nd top coat.

The decking will have to be moved to squirrelside by 2 inches to give clearance to the exhaust when it's fitted.

The badgerside engine is now fitted. The wiring loom connects to the rest of the boat with.....1 snap connector?....Bring it on

By this time the painter's getting hacked off, so he goes home by water taxi.

That's 3 coats though which is 3 more than the poor soul who painted it has....

Yeah,  it's party time.
