Badgers' new lease of life has only been made possible through the generosity of public bodies and grant-making trusts, principally H. M. Customs and Excise and The Robertson Trust. Substantial contributions were also received from The Mathew Trust , The Tay Charitable Trust, The Alexander Moncur Trust and the St. Katharine's Fund, whilst our dedicated volunteers, some of whom are themselves trainees under the Taymara Project gave countless hours of their spare time towards the completion of this project. Not least, we appreciate the expertise and attention to detail, given to the installation of her engines by Davy Anderson and Cadge at David Anderson Marine, Newport on Tay, Fife.

After a long period of enforced idleness in Victoria Dock, a tired Badger was sailed over to David Anderson Marine Newport on Tay under her own power. She was then nudged into her cradle by Piglet and pulled up the slipway.                          (With apologies to A.A. Milne)

She'll be here for a few weeks to receive new engines, repainting and refitting.

The first task was to remove the worst of the marine growth. One of North Carr's old mussel scrapers did the job.

Here he is again.

Chris does the starboard side.

As everyone knows - invisible bilge gas is heavier than air and a deadly hazard at sea. It must be drained or flushed out.  We bled the deadly gas off into a wheelbarrow under Badger's hull.

Safety is paramount. Once Susan realised that we weren't trying to catch her out, she very sensibly barrowed it all away for us.

At the same time, Davy, Bob and Ray were removing the first engine.

We think Bob was directing the fork lift here but it could have been another vision. Ray keeps his distance, just in case.

Ouch. Careful!

Remember Tonka Toys?

Ray directs. Pat's not sure about this and holds on tight.

Plan B. - Davy tries telekinesis but the engine refuses to levitate for his puny powers.

Back to plan A

Going

Gone.

The engine is lowered onto blocks.

Davy unhooks the engine while Susan plays air guitar in the fading light.

Not bad going though, for one Thursday evening.
