Badger has returned to the water with two new Perkin's Sabre engines fitted by David Anderson Marine - Newport on Tay, Fife.
|
 |
 |
|
Always a good seaboat, Badger now has engines that also give her speed, manoeuverability and reliablility. This enhances her versatility as a training vessel, passenger craft and workboat and we anticipate that she will have a busy life ahead of her.

The brake servos (Mick) kick in ... Iain glides unobtrusively away from the water's edge just in case......

He was right - The power operated steering unit (Mick) makes a slight correction to our direction to keep us pointing the right way. Nice one Mick.

We got stuck for a bit because the tide was low and we couldn't use the engines in case the screws fouled the trolley. Made it though, with some help. Thanks Dennis.

We took Badger out to meet Marigot returning from a trip to Perth

However...

...photography got a bit difficult at speed. We'll have to think about this.

Badger's shiny new paint has made an enemy. This idiot sees his reflection in Badger and takes it as a challenge to his authority. He can't stop pecking and trying to bully ...himself!

Badgers' new lease of life has only been made possible through the generosity of public bodies and grant-making trusts, principally H. M. Customs and Excise and The Robertson Trust. Substantial contributions were also received from The Mathew Trust , The Tay Charitable Trust, The Alexander Moncur Trust and the St. Katharine's Fund, whilst our dedicated volunteers, some of whom are themselves trainees under the Taymara Project gave countless hours of their spare time towards the completion of this project. Not least, we appreciate the expertise and attention to detail, given to the installation of her engines by Davy Anderson and Cadge at David Anderson Marine, Newport on Tay, Fife.
