These images are not intended to provide a timeline illustration of the course,  but we hope that they do show the depth of committment towards the training programme given by both the trainees and instructors, some of the rewards and, not least, the satisfaction and enjoyment experienced by all who participated in the scheme.

We would like to thank all the trainees for their commitment, enthusiasm, good humour and also for their willingness to offer their very positive input towards our future training programmes. We look forward to sailing with them should they wish to continue as regular members of MVS Tay.

Training afloat on Marigot

The culmination of the 6 week programme was a trip from Woodhaven to Newburgh with the trainees being responsible (under supervision) for the passage plan, navigation, and all aspects of handling the vessel from her departure to her arrival back at Woodhaven,

Off Tayport - Malcolm

Jim takes a lesson from Bob here and goes forward before devouring his pie, allthewhile keeping a wary eye open until it's gone.

Once on the helm, Larry never lets his attention wander, while still communicating with both skipper and navigator- one sign of a good helmsman in a busy wheelhouse full of distractions..

Torpedos off the stern

Helen on her box....

....and off

Another good pie. Thanks guys.

back on the box.....

Even Brian wasn't spared. We grabbed him and got him on the wheel on the last trip back to Woodhaven.

Lean back further David, it's a wide angle lens....

Mark did knots and ropework on the stern though quite why he tied Linda's leg to the boat remains a mystery

Special treat on return to Woodhaven was a quick trip on a newly engined Badger

This wasn't about training this was just for fun.
